Ijen Crater

Ijen Crater became one of the enchanting charm of Indonesia's extraordinary nature. It has amazed many tourists from various countries to visit here. An acidic crater lake lies atop of Mount Ijen with an altitude of 2443 meters above sea level. Ijen Crater is the first known world since the arrival of two French tourists, Nicolas Hulot and his wife Katia Kraft in 1971. The story they wrote about the charm of Ijen Crater how the lives of sulfur miners in a Geo magazine, France. This place has a very beautiful natural charm in the morning with the sunrise view, the morning sunlight that illuminates the crater will be reflected to form a green sheen color and sometimes turn into a blue color.

In the Early morning, the sulfur miners climbed to the top of Mount Ijen by using a flashlight on their heads, jackets and gloves. The trip to the top of Mount Ijen takes about two hours. After reaching the top of the miners have to descend the steep cliffs to get to the crater. In the vicinity of the crater of Mount Ijen, the miners take the sulfur that has been broken into sulfur chunk, then them must return up the rocky path to the top while carrying bamboo basket full of sulfur weighing approximately 50 kilogram.

Phenomenon in Ijen Crater comes from the sulfur liquid that flows down the crater and causes a blue fire. Ijen Crater is the only crater in Indonesia that has a natural phenomenon "blue fire". This phenomenon is only two in the world, first in Iceland and the second in Indonesia. To see the Blue Fire tourist must hike Mount Ijen which starts around 2:00 am from the entrance of Paltuding.

The view of Ijen Crater is amazing when the morning sun shines radiating a very beautiful glow of light and also hit from behind Mount Merapi. In Ijen Summit is the first time we can see the sun rising from the island of Java because it is located in East Java.

In the Ijen plateau there are two plantations managed by PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XII (Persero), it was named Kalisat Jampit and Blawan Gardens. Both the garden are garden with arabica coffee cultivation. Ijen highland arabica coffee is known abroad with Java Coffee. This coffee is delicious with a bitter and sour taste, different from robusta coffee.

The Locals call this waterfall is Niagara Mini. Waterfall that has a wide shape, terraces and has a height of only about 6 meters very clear and cool that flows from a small river into a park. A very beautiful place that can provide an entertaining atmosphere of saturation of our daily activities.

Kali Pahit Waterfall is located at the foot of Ijen mountain. Waterfall that the water flow almost straight made a shaped of ramps. The water itself is greenish and filled with foam. The flowing water has a very high sulfur content because this water flow comes from Ijen Crater.

Blawan Waterfall comes from Kali Pahit River and also comes from the water of Ijen Crater. This waterfall falls down to earth or does not flow on the surface, but into a tunnel or river that is underground and then appeared in Asembagus, Situbondo regency to the Java Sea.

Blawan Waterfall has a height of approximately 30 meters and its color is yellowish. The yellow color contains sulfur that flows from the mountain brimstone Ijen. The waterfall was steaming among the green hills with sharp cliffs and cephalagmites.

Majalengka district is a city in West Java that has beautiful mountain view. Tourism places in Majalengka has their own unique style. It nears Ciremai Mountain which is the tallest mountain in West Java.

Panyaweuyan Argapura terrace, located in Majalengka District known as Agrotourism destination. The beauty of the terraces in Panyaweuyan not inferior to Jatiluwih or Tegalalang terraces in Bali. This terrace attracts visitors because of the terraced fields looks like a staircase around the foot of Mount Ciremai. Plants planted by farmers are: onion, garlic, leek and cabbage. For photography lovers immortalize this scene should be precise in the morning before the sun is visible behind Mount Ciremai and terraces shrouded in the mist.

Sawiyah Peak is a plantation that is located in Sangiang Village, Majalengka District near the protected forest in the National Park Ciremai Region. The height of Sawiyah Peak is approximately 1300 above sea level with cold air, fertile soil and see the activities of farmers grow crops.

Sawiyah Peak has a natural charm. People can see clearly some of the mountain from the Sawiyah Peak such as Galunggung Mountain and Papandayan Mountain. Not far from Sawiyah peak location there is a waterfall known as ”Curug Sawiyah” or “Curug Genclang”. It can be reached on foot about 40 minutes.

Another namefrom “Curug Muara Jaya” or abbreviated to“Curug Maja” is “Curug Apuy” which is located in Muara River. The existence of this waterfall is very natural also equipped with valleys and hills overgrown with trees. This 2-story waterfall is still at the foot of Mount Ciremai with the overall height of the waterfall reaches about 73 meters. The first waterfall called “Curug 1” is the main waterfall that falls from a height of about 60 meters and the second level waterfall called “Curug 2” is a short waterfall that is only about 13 meters high.
