History

View of Indonesia (VOI), based in Jakarta, was established in 2012 by four individuals with diverse passions: a road trip enthusiast, a landscape photography lover, and a dedicated traveler exploring the Indonesian archipelago. Despite their different interests, they shared a common goal—discovering hidden natural destinations.

United by a shared vision and mission, they ventured into Indonesia’s tourism industry. Their journey began between 2010 and 2012, during which they explored remote and undiscovered destinations across the country by car, motorcycle, and backpacking.

View of Indonesia was founded with the aim of making travel easier for those seeking recreational trips or access to hard-to-reach destinations. The company operates with a strong commitment to delivering excellent service and has earned the trust of highly discerning clients.

With extensive expertise and a broad network, View of Indonesia is capable of proposing well-crafted travel plans, including accommodation arrangements and high-quality services, offering a rich selection of destinations across the Indonesian archipelago.

Indonesia, often referred to as “The Lost Atlantis,” is renowned for its natural and nautical charm. Several regions have been recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including:

  • Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi – Designated as a world biosphere reserve, Wakatobi is famous for its vibrant coral reefs and highly diverse underwater life.
  • Komodo National Park, Flores Island – Also a biosphere reserve, it is home to the rare Komodo dragon, a species found only in Indonesia.
  • Ujung Kulon National Park, Banten Province – Known for conserving the one-horned Javan rhino, the park also protects hundreds of flora and fauna species.
  • Borobudur Temple, Yogyakarta – Built in the 8th–9th centuries during the Syailendra Dynasty, it was restored in the 1970s with UNESCO support and the Indonesian government.
  • Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta – Built in the 10th century, this complex includes 240 small temples and more than 500 temple variations, reflecting monumental historical and cultural significance.

Komodo National Park gained international recognition as one of the “New Seven Wonders of Nature” in September 2009, highlighting Indonesia’s global significance in natural heritage.

Indonesia is home to many rare and extraordinary natural phenomena, offering travelers unique experiences:

  • Lake Toba, North Sumatra – The largest lake in Indonesia, formed by a volcanic eruption, featuring Samosir Island at its center.
  • Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, East Java – The Tengger Caldera spans 5,290 hectares, offering breathtaking volcanic landscapes.

  • Dieng Plateau, Central Java – An active volcanic area at 2,000 meters above sea level, where temperatures during the dry season can drop to 0–5°C, creating dew that resembles snow over agricultural fields.
  • Kelimutu Lake, Flores Island – Famous for its three distinctively colored lakes, known locally as the “Three Colors Lake.”
  • Pink Sand Beaches – Found in Komodo Island and Lombok Island, these beaches feature naturally pink-hued sands.
  • Seruling Samudera (Flute Ocean), East Java – Produces a flute-like sound as seawater flows through rock crevices at Klayar Beach.
